Chopping Pots

There are many ways to chop a pot. The most common would be when the poker online table folds around to the big and small blind in a live online poker cash game, where most houses will then give the option that both players can take back their hands and deal the next. The idea here is to save time for the poker table by not dealing out a hand that suggests to be of little action. In smaller handed circumstances, this is usually forgone, but the etiquette for most tables is that chopping here is polite, and if you decide not to do it the first time, you can’t change your mind later. Because most people agree to concede the fight between blinds when it comes down to this matter, it is often considered ‘rude’ to not chop. Of course, ‘rude’ in poker only means so much, but in general it is good karma to not rock the boat too much. If you’re the kind of player that just doesn’t dig on the idea of going lightly, so be it, but you might expect an extreme level of aggression from the opponent you didn’t chop with (which might work out even further in your favor).
